Democracy for Tennessee ("DFT") is the voice for Tennessee's progressive community. We are average, working-class citizens who are committed to changing national, state, and county politics through grassroots activism.

DFT is the official Tennessee chapter of the national Democracy for America organization. In keeping with Democracy for America's goals of taking our country back, DFT will confidently advance an agenda rooted in hope and real American values – opportunity, integrity, corporate responsibility, and community.

We demand and will fight for a fair country; one where regular people can make a decent living and make sure their children inherit a better world than they had.

In order to further an agenda of equal opportunity, fairness, prosperity, and security, DFT will work in concert with DFA and our local chapters, on these specific goals --

	Commit to strong, sustained grassroots involvement in the democratic process. Today, half of Americans don't even bother to vote. People see what the problems are, but they are still cynical about the system and prospects for change. Only through acting will people recognize the power they have to change our country and move it forward.
	Recruit and encourage progressive candidates to run for office at every level. We will help them find the resources to campaign successfully with small donations from grassroots supporters, to begin to break the stranglehold special interests have on the political process.
	Develop strategic partnerships with other progressive organizations to maximize resources for candidate recruitment, training, and organization. Also, to support our coalition partners in their issue campaigns.
	Harness the power of the Internet to enlarge and support our grassroots organization committed to taking back America from special interests that control our national, state, and local governments.
